Wintergreen Corp. Welcomes Middle School Students and Volunteers to "Treat the Troops" at its Georgia Headquarters

ALPHARETTA, Ga., May 4, 2019 - Wintergreen Corp. welcomed students and volunteers from nearby Piney Grove Middle School as they boxed up cookies, cards and other treats to ship to U.S. troops overseas as part of Piney Grove's "Grizzly Great Day of Giving," or G3. The cookie pack is held in conjunction with Treat the Troops, a nonprofit organization dedicated to remembering American military personnel stationed outside the U.S.

Each year Wintergreen opens up its 100,000-square-foot headquarters and distribution facility to students and parent volunteers participating in Piney Grove's G3, an annual event in which students fan out into the community to perform acts of service. This year the students got an added treat for their volunteerism: a chance to view the new showroom at Wintergreen's headquarters. The showroom displays thousands of colorful Christmas lights, giant Christmas trees and lighted decor for the holidays and year-round.

"We are delighted to host these students and volunteers in our facility for the wonderful work they are doing," said Chris Miller, Co-Owner of Wintergreen Corp. "Giving students the opportunity to experience the difference they can make in their communities and the lives of others is a valuable lesson. We are proud to be a sponsor of Piney Grove's Great Day of Giving."

Miller said Christmas Lights, Etc plans to continue its support of G3 and encourages other local businesses to do the same, both with G3 and Treat the Troops.

"It's so wonderful what the school is doing, getting so many students involved with non-profits like ours to improve their communities," said Linda Jones of Treat the Troops. "I can tell you, our soldiers appreciate it. They tell me all the time how much the cards and homemade cookies mean to them. They can smell home when they open those boxes. We want those guys and gals to know they aren't forgotten."

Treat The Troops (http://www.treatthetroops.org) is a non-profit organization dedicated to letting deployed American military personnel know that people at home are remembering them. Treat the Troops sends home-baked cookies and other comfort items, along with a note of thanks, to the troops via the U.S. Postal Service.
